Javelina, Upon Request

Javelina, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Tucson, Arizona
Javelinas, also known as the collared peccary, live mainly in prickly grassy parts of the desert between 1,000 and 5,000 ft. in elevation. Their young are referred to as piglings or shoats.  They're very protective of their young, especially when it comes to coyotes, they are their main enemies. Many say that Javelinas are mean animals, that may charge, but that is only because they do not have very good eyesight. So it appears to them that they are running away from you. But still, do not take any chances STAY AWAY while still enjoying them. Observe from a window, go to the desert museum. . .whatever you can think of.
